Did you love him and there's nothing he can say to make her understand, so he simply holds her tighter, clings to her in desperation. Ignores the sting of unshed tears behind his eyelids. Why won't you mourn him and he can't explain to her what he can't explain to himself. So he kisses her softly, smoothes a hand over silken hair, and tries not to lie with his every touch.
